A pivotal moment in feminism and technology.

Technofeminism

Technofeminism critically examines how technological systems reproduce social hierarchies and gendered power structures. It exposes how “men’s traditional monopoly of technology has been key to maintaining the definition of skilled work as men’s work.”⁸ By connecting structural bias to design, technofeminism demands accountability: asking who designs technology and whose perspectives are excluded. Donna Haraway captured this sentiment, writing, “The machine is us, our processes, an aspect of our embodiment… We are responsible for boundaries; we are they.”⁴ The movement advocates for reflexivity in design — ensuring that technological development does not perpetuate patriarchal systems of power.⁴ ⁸
